Mr. John " J.E." Harrell, 86, of Adel, Georgia, passed away Friday February 23, 2018 at Langdale Hospice House in Valdosta. He was born on October 27, 1931 in Cook County to Enoch Thomas Harrell and Eunie Mozell Jones Harrell. He lived in Kentucky for a number of years before returning back to Cook County in 1972. Mr. Harrell was a retired contractor and the owner/operator of Cook County Septic Systems and was a member of Springhead Baptist Church. He also served in the United States Marine Corps and was a member of the American Legion and the Cook County Exchange Club.

Mr. Harrell is survived by his daughter, Donna Harrell Bennett of Adel; two grandchildren: Olivia Stanley of Thomasville, Georgia and Amanda P. Guess of St. Petersburg, Florida; two great-grandchildren: Aliyah Guess of Albany, Georgia and Adrian Carrasco of St. Petersburg; a brother, Clarence Harrell of Pavo, Georgia; and a sister-in-law, Wava Nell Harrell of Adel. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Geraldine Griffin Harrell; his son, Randall Keith "Randy" Harrell; six brothers: Cecil, Wesley, Lamar, Rufus, Bruce and Richard Harrell; and five sisters: Gussie Guthrie, Gladys Guthrie, Irene Folsom, Verner Folsom and Florence Gibbs.

The family received friends Friday evening March 2, 2018 from 6 until 8 PM at Boone Funeral Home South, 1804 S. Hutchinson Ave., in Adel. The funeral service was held Saturday March 3, 2018 at 11 AM at Springhead Baptist Church with Rev. Joey Taylor officiating. Interment followed at Springhead Church Cemetery. Wayne and Mary Nell Boyette sang "Amazing Grace" and "I Want Us to be Together in Heaven" and Mrs. Boyette  also played the piano.  Alfredo Carrasco, Ricky Harrell, Timmy Guthrie, Aaron Guthrie, Tony Guthrie and Ronnie Guthrie served as pallbearers.  Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.boonefunerals.com.
