Mr. John Felix Scarboro, 83, of Adel, Georgia, passed away on November 17, 2020, at South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta. He was born on April 11, 1937 in Angier, North Carolina. His parents were John Harris Scarboro, Sr. and Grace Midas Pate Scarboro. Mr. Scarboro lived in Cook County for the past 42 years where he attended Adel Assembly of God. He was retired from ANS Signs and Adel Steel where he was CEO and he was also the co-owner of Circlestone Country Club. Mr. Scarboro also served honorably in the United States Air Force.
Mr. Scarboro is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Ray Rowan of Sparks, Georgia; his grandchildren: Chris and Rita Posey of Sparks, Johnathan and Lee Thornton of Atlanta, Georgia, Robert Rowan of Sparks, Gary and Brittany Rowan of Sparks, Crystal and Steven Carter of Adel, Joseph and Lucy Thornton of Jacksonville, Florida; 13 great-grandchildren; a sister, Cecilia Redd of Garner, North Carolina; and his special caregiver, Pat Goforth of Adel. He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Dorothy Louise "Dot" Radford Scarboro; two daughters: Donna Kim Scarboro Thornton and Lorie Apperson-Moore; a son-in-law, David Apperson; a brother, Benny Scarboro, Jr.; and a sister, Janice S. Daniels.
A visitation for family and friends washeld on Thursday, November 19, 2020 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Boone Funeral Home. The funeral service took place in the chapel of Boone Funeral Home at 2:00 PM on Friday, November 20, 2020, with Rev. Jonathan Walker officiating. Interment took place at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens immediately following the funeral service. Chris Posey, Johnathan Thornton, Robert Rowan, Gary Rowan, Christian Posey, Parker Posey, Cole Posey, Austin Yawn, Andrew Yawn, Li'l Johnathan Thornton and Aiden Wilcox served as pallbearers. Anna Walker played piano and sang "Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone)" and "The Holy Hills of Heaven Call Me." Memorials in memory of Mr. Scarboro may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Shriners Hospitals for Children, Sheriff's Boys Ranch or to the American Cancer Society.
