Mr. Johnny Gilliam, 55, of Adel, Georgia passed away Monday, February 8, 2016 at South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta. He was born July 6, 1960 in Live Oak, Florida to his late parents, Joe Lewis Gilliam, Sr. and Martha Spires Gilliam. He was a retired mechanic and lived in Georgia most of his life and in Cook County for more than twenty years where he was a member of Adel Baptist Church.
Mr. Gilliam is survived by his wife of thirty-two years, Barbara Gilliam of Adel; a son Jonathan Stafford, and a daughter Billie Joe Gilliam, both of Adel; a granddaughter, Alexis Nicole Spires; four sisters and a brother: Darlene Gilliam, Betty Jo Bullock, April Moore, Lisa Purcell an Joe "Bo" Gilliam, all of Ocala, Florida; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jeremy Gilliam, and a sister, Sonya Campbell.
A graveside funeral service for Mr. Gilliam was held Thursday, February 11, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Sparks City Cemetery with Rev. Elkin Harnage officiating. The family received friends prior to the service from 12:00 noon until 1:30 PM at Boone Funeral Home, 1804 S. Hutchinson Ave., in Adel. Finley Castleberry, Timmy Guthrie, Kevin Leclerc, Phillip Bentley, Steven Johnson and Roger Quick served as pallbearers.
