Mr. Johnny Ellis Taylor, 76, of Nashville, Georgia, formerly of Sparks, Georgia, passed away on July 9, 2022 at Southwell Health and Rehabilitation Center in Adel, Georgia. Mr. Taylor was born on September 14, 1945 in Valdosta, Georgia to the late Edward Rountree Taylor and Eva Rowan Taylor. Mr. Taylor lived most of his life in Cook County and he attended Beulah Holiness Baptist Church in Cook County. He retired from Courtyard Motels where he worked as the chief engineer. Mr. Taylor served in the Army National Guard and was an avid Georgia Bulldog fan.
He was survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Cindy Taylor of Valdosta, Georgia; two daughters and sons-in-law: Cynthia Lynn and Durand Godwin of Adel, Georgia, and Connie and Ronnie Taylor of Sparks; seven grandchildren: Robert Lee and Brittany Godwin, Christopher and Heather Godwin, all of Adel, Ryan and Cortni Taylor of Lenox, Georgia, Tiffany Godwin Williams of Adel, Blake Taylor of Valdosta, Cameran Godwin of Nashville, Ansley and Nic Stagner of Hahira; nine great grandchildren: Mae Bea Ann Godwin and Raviyan Godwin both of Atlanta, Landon Taylor of Lenox, Caidance Godwin of Valdosta, Tyler Taylor of Lenox, Abby Williams of Adel, Bo Elliott Taylor of Lenox, Kylie Taylor of Valdosta and Natalie Godwin of Adel. In addition to his parents Mr. Taylor was preceded in death by his wife Marsha Hall Taylor; his granddaughter, Lacey Elizabeth Taylor; two brothers: Robert D. Taylor and Edward R. Taylor; and one sister, Mary Elizabeth Taylor Register.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at Brushy Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmy Parker officiating. Interment followed at Nashville Memorial Gardens. Visitation took place at the church one hour prior to the service. Tim Taylor, Ryan Taylor Blake Taylor, Landon Taylor, Ronnie Taylor and Nic Stagner served as active pallbearers and David Newbern and Don Arnold served as honorary pallbearers. Jack and Betty Joiner sang "Amazing Grace," "The Old Rugged Cross" and "I'll meet You In The Morning."
