Mr. Julian O. Huff, 85 of Lenox, Georgia passed away February 3, 2015 at the Cook Senior Living Center. "Jay" was born July 27, 1929 at West Palm Beach, Florida to the late Oscar Gerome Huff and Dixie Windley Huff. He lived most of his life in Miami before moving to Lenox 26 years ago. Jay joined the United States Army in 1949 and served as a medic through the end of the Korean war. In 1955, he met and married Carmen Garrett Huff and in 1956 joined the Dade County Police Department. He served as a uniform patrol officer and when the department joined into the Dade County Public Safety Department he continued his career as a Detective in units including Homicide, Robbery, Sexual Battery and Crime Scene. Later promoted to Sergeant, he would return to supervise these same units and train new Detectives. Jay was promoted to Lieutenant in 1972, where he continued to supervise a growing Department and train and mentor other junior officers. He had a reputation as a great leader and supervisor and was know for taking care of his people as well as promoting a strong work ethic. Jay retired in 1989 and relocated to the family home in Lenox, Georgia. He enjoyed his retired time playing golf and fishing. He and his wife Carmen traveled in their RV and were active in helping others in their community. He even managed time to act in several Bo Lovein Ford Dealership commercials, which made him quite a local celebrity.
Mr. Huff is survived my his wife of 59 years, Carmen Huff; son and daughter-in-law, Kenny and Kim Glass all of Lenox; son, Jay Scott and daughter, Laurel Huff both of Sparks, Georgia. Grandchildren; Ryan Allen, Ethan Glass, Michelle Glass Parton and Brad Parton, and Robert and Ginny Huff. Great-Grandchildren; Cameron Huff, Jordan Huff, Harley and Hunter Parton.
No formal funeral services were held.
