Mr. Julian "J.B." Tyson, Sr., 87, of Adel, Georgia, passed away on Monday, December 2, 2019 at Berrien Nursing Center in Nashville, Georgia. He was born on April 15, 1932 in Ellenton, Georgia, and lived in New Hampshire before moving to Cook County in 1984. Mr. Tyson was retired from Permatach Diamond Plating Company where he served as chief engineer. He also served in the Korean Conflict with the United States Navy and Air Force. He was a Baptist.
Mr. Tyson is survived by his wife, Madeleine Margarett Croteau Tyson of Adel; four sons and daughters-in-law: Roy and Yon Hui Tyson of Marietta, Georgia; Charles "Chuck" and Marilyn Tyson of Erie, Pennsylvania; Lenny and Terri Tyson of Madisonville, Tennessee; and Julian "J.R." Tyson, Jr. of Jackson, Tennessee; three daughters and sons-in-law: Diane and Mike Portbury of Mayo, Florida; Becky and Robert Crawford of Mt. Carmel, Tennessee; and Debra and Greg Saucier of Valdosta, Georgia; a grandson, Steven Saucier of Valdosta and numerous other grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and one brother, Charles E. Tyson of Leesburg, Georgia. Mr. Tyson was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard J. and Hattie Moore Tyson; his step-mother, Effie Little Tyson; a brother, Carlton Tyson; and a sister, Betty Jean Martin.
Funeral services for Mr. Tyson were held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 7, 2019 in the chapel of Boone Funeral Home with Rev. Elkin Harnage officiating. Interment followed at Crossroads Cemetery. The family received friends at the funeral home on the day of the service beginning at 9:00 AM. Roy Tyson, Chuck Tyson, Doug Saucier and Alvin May served as pallbearers. Marki Meders sang "Because He Lives." Other special music played at the service was a southern gospel medley by Anthem Lights.
