Ms. Kay McMillan Powell, age 75, of Adel, Georgia, passed away on February 23, 2026 at Colquitt Regional Medical Center in Moultrie, Georgia.  She was born in Tifton, Georgia on October 8, 1950 and was the daughter of the late Willie Jackson McMillan and the late Geneva Ruth Stanford McMillan.  Ms. Powell was a retired educator for the Cook County Board of Education where she taught countless children through her career at Adel Elementary School, Cook Primary School and Cook Elementary School.  In addition to being an educator, she was a Band Mom for the Cook High School Band while her son, Jonathan, was a member through his high school years.  Ms. Powell was known affectionately as "Mama Kay" by everyone in the band.

Ms. Powell is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jonathan and Jenny Powell, and a grandson, William Powell, all of Lynnwood, Washington, and a sister, Shirley McMillan of Adel.  She was preceded in death by her parents.

A graveside service will take place at McMillan Cemetery in Colquitt County on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Don Baker officiating and Mr. Jerry Joiner providing the eulogy..  No public visitation will be held.  In lieu of flowers, it is requested that tributes be made in honor of Ms. Powell to The McMillan Cemetery Fund c/o/ Shirley McMillan, 755 Billy Connell Rd., Adel, GA 31620.
