Mr. Kenny Wood, 60, of Ray City, Georgia passed away November 17, 2016 at his residence following a long illness. Mr. Wood was formerly of Adel, Georgia. He was born September 30, 1956 in Lowndes County to the late Bobby Frank Wood and Pam King of Alapaha, Georgia. Mr. Wood lived most of his life in Cook County and was a retired supervisor with Nashville Mills and a farmer. He was of the Baptist Faith.
Mr. Wood is survived by his wife, Kathy Shannon Wood of Ray City; two daughters and sons-in-law; Leanne and Michael Chafin of Norman Park, Georgia and Lindsey and Tony Griffin of Barney, Georgia; his grandchildren: Hunter, River and Milleigh Griffin, all of Barney, Charlie and James Chafin of Norman Park; his mother and step-father, Pam and Paul King of Alapaha, Georgia; one brother and sister-in-law; Ed and Teresa Wood of Clyattville, Georgia; one sister, Nancy Curry of Ray City; his mother-in-law, Nell Shannon of Adel, Georgia; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Bobby Frank Wood.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM, Saturday November 19, 2016 at Brushy Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Marlon Daniels officiating and eulogies by Chad Sumner and Danny Sparks. Kris Kicon, Jon Kicon, Kyle Wood, Aaron Shearl, James Camp and Danny Sparks served as active pallbearers; Peyton Sumner, John Sumner, Andrew McBrayer, Matt McMichen, Kenny Wadsworth, and Kenny McBrayer served as honorary pallbearers. Michael Chafin sang "Take My Hand, Precious Lord" and "Beulah Land"; the congregation sang "Amazing Grace"; Lajuana Chafin played the piano and Claudette Spearman played the organ. Visitation was held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday, November 18, 2016 at Boone Funeral Home, 1804 S. Hutchinson Ave.
