Mr. L B Giddens, 90, of Adel, Georgia passed away November 21, 2020, at the Fellowship Home in Valdosta, Georgia. Mr. Giddens was born on May 28, 1930 in Kathleen, Florida to the late Porter Lanier Giddens and Emma Mae Moncrief Giddens. He lived in Cook County all of his life and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Adel. Mr. Giddens was a retired investigator with the Georgia Secretary of State's office and a Navy veteran of the Korean War.
Mr. Giddens is survived by three sons: Bruce Giddens, Stan Giddens and Hank Giddens, all of Adel; one daughter, Cindy Atkinson of Conyers, Georgia; four grandchildren; Jaimie Giddens of Columbia, South Carolina, Jade Taylor of Hahira, Georgia, Lee Atkinson and Logan Atkinson, both of Conyers; three great grandchildren: Everleigh Taylor and Elliot Taylor, both of Hahira and Garnett Corley of Columbia; two brothers and sisters-in-law: Tim E. "Doc" and Bobbie Giddens of Camilla, Georgia, Ronnie and Elaine Giddens of Clermont, Florida; one sister and brother-in-law, Loudell and Larry Greene of Springhill, Florida. He was preceded in death by his wife Doris Martin Giddens; one brother, Rogel Giddens; and one sister, Lillian Howell.
Funeral services were held at 3:00 PM, Monday, November 23, 2020 at the Chapel of Boone Funeral Home with Rev. Ike Jefferson officiating. Intermentl followed at the Woodlawn City Cemetery. Cale Giddens, Garrett Giddens, Keith Giddens, Mike Bennett, Scott Storey and Robert Thomson served as pallbearers. Special music to be played at the service was: "For the Good Times," "Help Me Make It Through the Night," "Always on My Mind," "When I Get Where I'm Going" and "Amazing Grace." Visitation was conducted from 2:00 to 3:00 PM on Monday, November 23, 2020 at Boone Funeral Home, 1804 S. Hutchinson Ave. (US Hwy. 41 South). The family requests that everyone wear masks and observe social distancing.
