Mrs. Laura Louise Wood, age 86, of Valdosta, Georgia, formerly of Adel, Georgia, passed away on May 25, 2024 at The Fellowship Home Brookside in Valdosta.  She was born in Los Angeles, California on September 17, 1937 and was the daughter of Joseph Robert Austin and Emelyn Branch Austin.  Mrs. Wood additionally lived in Brooks County, Cook County since 1973 and the last five years in Lowndes County.  She was a homemaker and also served in the Pink Ladies Auxiliary for South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta and the Memorial Hospital of Adel.

Mrs. Wood is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law: Debbie and John Zaciewski of Adel, and Terri Wood Elftmann of Jacksonville, Florida; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Larry James Wood; her son, Michael Denton Wood; and a grandson, Levi Rhyne.

A graveside funeral service for Mrs. Wood took place at Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery beginning at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 29, 2024 with Rev. Bruce Merriman officiating.  Interment followed.
