Mr. Leon Cone, 84, of Lenox, Georgia, passed away on September 22, 2019, at the Rehabilitation Center of South Georgia in Tifton, Georgia.  Mr. Cone was born October 6, 1934 in Berrien County to the late John Carroll Cone and Jamie Alma Meads Cone.  He was a member of the Lakeview Baptist Church and was retired from the Cook County Road Department where he served as the Road Superintendent.  He also retired from the Town of Lenox as the Utilities Supervisor.  Mr. Cone served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.

Mr. Cone is survived by two sons and daughters-in-laws; Leon MacMillan Jr. and his wife, Sonya, of Beaufort, South Carolina, Randy and Brenda Cone of Lenox, Georgia; one daughter and son-in-law, Denise M. and Terry Walker of Marysville, Indiana; one sister and brother-in-law, Libby and Harold Tawzer of Tifton, Georgia; 10 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia "Pat" Harrington Cone; two sons, Bill Meads and Robert "Danny" Meads; one granddaughter, Kathryn Cone Johnson; four brothers, John Henry Cone, Jimmy Cone, Jesse "Dunk" Cone and Dale Cone; and two sisters, Virginia Cone and Patricia Cone.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, September 25, 2019, at the Lakeview Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Cone officiating and the eulogy provided by Mr. Johnny Tawzer.  Interment followed at the church cemetery.  Johnny Tawzer, Patrick Stafford, Justin Bailey, Brian Bailey and Curly Rutland served as active pallbearers; Johnny Walker and Darwin Eason served as honorary pallbearers.  "Amazing Grace," "How Great Thou Art," Farther Along" and "Go Rest High on That Mountain" were special music tributes played at the service.  Visitation was held from 6:00 to 8:00PM on Tuesday, September 24, 2019, at Boone Funeral Home in Adel, Georgia.
