Mrs. Linda Faye Barton, 73, of Adel, Georgia, passed away Thursday November 16, 2017 at South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta. She was born on December 15, 1943 in Sparks, Georgia to her late parents, John Emmett Barrett and Eula Lee Walker Barrett. She lived most of her life in Cook County where she was a retired certified court reporter and a member of Antioch United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Barton is survived by her husband, William "Bill" Barton of Adel; a son and daughter-in-law, Jonathan and Kellie Barton of Brinson, Georgia; a daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Robert Haas of Oviedo, Florida; two grandchildren, Maelee and Coralie Haas, both of Oviedo; five brothers: John "Doodle" Barrett of Tifton, James "Pug" Barrett of Fargo, Georgia, Roger Barrett and C.W. Barrett of Sparks, and Wayne Barrett of Putney, Georgia; and a sister, Anne Reese Davis of Sparks. A host of nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Matha Barrett.
The family received friends Saturday evening, November 18, 2017 from 6 until 8 PM at Boone Funeral Home South. The funeral service took place on Sunday, November 19, 2017 at 2 PM at Antioch United Methodist Church with Dr. Gary Brady officiating. Interment followed at the church cemetery. Chad Schofill, Dalton Schofill, Wade Barrett, Wyatt Barrett, Michael Barrett, Ricky Barrett, Tahl Barrett, David Barrett and Terry Barton served as pallbearers. Ellen Wiggins and Phillip Taylor sang "I'll Fly Away," the congregation sang "Amazing Grace" and Johnnie Lou Ellenberg played the piano. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Antioch United Methodist Church (c/o 6783 Old Union Road; Adel, GA 31620).
