Mrs. Linda Lawrence Cowart, 73, of Adel, Georgia, passed away on August 14, 2021 at the Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton, Georgia. She was born on August 30, 1947 in Cook County to the late Larry Elton Lawrence and Nelda Bernice Adams Lawrence. Mrs. Cowart lived all of her life in Cook County and was a member of the Adel United Methodist Church. She retired after 30 years of service as the Office Administrator of the Adel United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Cowart is survived by her husband, David Cowart of Adel; her son, Derek Thomas of Adel; two daughters and son-in-law: Mendi and Jeremy Johns of Adel and Marcy Thomas Ray and Dusty Griffin of Nashville, Georgia; her Bonus daughters and sons-in-law: Emily and Joey Schramm and Sarah and Cory Mackey, all of Adel; 14 grandchildren; one brother, James B. "Jim" Lawrence of Adel and one sister-in-law, Madge Lawrence of Adel. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard Lawrence and Frederick L. "Freddie" Lawrence.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at the Adel United Methodist Church with Rev. Larry Bird and Rev. John Stephens III officiating. Interment followed at the Woodlawn City Cemetery. Jason Kelley, Lyn Pickle, Ross Pickle, John Zaciewski, Tom Bryan, Shawn Tarrant and Jamie Moore served as active pallbearers; honorary pallbearers included Mrs. Cowart's grandsons, Adam Ray, Cole Mackey, Dalton Schramm and Devin Schramm. Cindy Williams played piano and Dr. Mary Sue Ward sang "It Is Well;" "I Can Only Imagine" was also played at the service; Sunshine Bird played "Amazing Grace" on flute at the graveside. The family had visitation from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Monday, August 16, 2021 at Boone Funeral Home.
