Mrs. Lois Powell, 83, of Adel, Georgia, passed away on Friday morning, April 24, 2020, at Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton. She was the daughter of the late George Carl Breedlove and Pearl Martha DeHart Breedlove. Mrs. Powell was born on November 4, 1936 in Bryson City, North Carolina. She grew up in North Carolina but has been a local resident of Cook County since 1986 where she was a member of Springhead Baptist Church.
In her early adult years, Mrs. Powell was a legal secretary. She was an Air Force wife and devoted, generous and loving wife, mother and grandmother to her family. Mrs. Powell was a woman of many talents - she was an excellent seamstress, gardener, artist and painter. She enjoyed traveling with her husband all over the southeast where they would often visit arts and crafts shows to show off and sell their paintings and woodworking crafts. Their neighbors were often treated with fruits and vegetables from their garden and she loved growing flowers as well.
Mrs. Powell is survived by her husband, Earl J. Powell of Adel; a son, Steve Powell of Phoenix, Arizona; two daughters and a son-in-law: Teresa Valent and Patricia and Robin Knight, all of Adel; a grandson, Matthew Knight of Adel; and a brother and sister-in-law, Victor and Christine Breedlove of Marble, North Carolina.
A graveside service for Mrs. Powell was held on Tuesday, April 28, 2020 at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens with Rev. Joey Taylor officiating and Mr. Al Dodd also spoke.
