Mr. Louis A. Kent, 90, of Valdosta, passed away Friday November 3, 2017 at Langdale Hospice House in Valdosta. He was born on September 18, 1927 in Lowndes County to the late Warren James Kent and Annie Mae Culpepper Kent. He lived most of his life in South Georgia, particularly Adel and Valdosta. He was a retired regional insurance sales director and also a veteran of World War II where he served in the Army.

Mr. Kent is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Richard Starr of Hogansville, Georgia; a son, David Kent of Savannah, Georgia; five grandchildren: Jennifer Oates of Atlanta, Travis Vitali of Cumming, Georgia, Lauren Kent of London, England, Stephen Kent of Las Vegas Nevada and Whitney Loggins of Jacksonville, Florida; two great-grandchildren: Samuel Oates and Alma Rose Smotherman, both of Atlanta; a brother and sister-in-law, Edward and June Kent of Lake Park, Georgia; and a sister, Anne Smith of Valdosta. He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Shaw Kent; a brother, T.J. Kent; and a sister, Katherine Inez Cowart.

A graveside funeral service with Military Funeral Honors was held for Mr. Kent on Sunday November 5, 2017 at 3:00 pm at Woodlawn City Cemetery in Adel, Georgia with Rev. Wayne Hughes officiating.
