Obituary

Mrs. Louise Lupo Godwin, 96, of Lenox, Georgia, passed away at her home August 18, 2015. She was born in Colquitt County on August 18, 1919 to the late William Quincy and Eunie Gibbs Lupo. She lived in Cook County most of her life where she served her family as a homemaker and was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church.

Mrs. Godwin is survived by her son, Larry Joe Godwin of Lenox; two daughters and sons-in-law: Wanda and Bernie Hathcock of Mexico Beach, Florida, Linda and Benjie Baldree of Tifton; six grandchildren and their spouses: Joel Q. Godwin, Sr. and Myra of Valdosta, Laralee and Shane Danforth of Vienna, Kristin and David Pettis of Tifton, Jan and A.B. Garrard of Tifton, Cheryl and Shawn Selph of Newport Beach, California, and Stephanie B. and Allen Peugh of Tifton; nine great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Virginia Hester of Cleveland, Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sanford Lee Godwin; a great-grandson, Erik Griffin; five brothers and five sisters.

The funeral service for Mrs. Godwin was held Thursday, August 20, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Lakeview Baptist Church in Lenox with Rev. Dillard Ensley and Rev. Stanley Hendricks officiating. The family received friends at the church one hour prior to the funeral service. Following the funeral service, interment took place at Bethlehem Church Cemetery. Joel Godwin, A.B. Garrard, Allen Peugh, Quin Godwin, Duane Padgett and Jerry Lupo served as pallbearers. Susie Betts played piano and Bobby Godwin played clarinet on "Just a Closer Walk With Thee"; Stanley Hendricks sang "Because He Lives"; Bryce Peugh played guitar and Allen Peugh sang "Amazing Grace"; Allen also sang "The Midnight Cry"; and "Love Lifted Me" was a special selection played at the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in memory of Mrs. Godwin to the Hospice of Tift Area, 618 N. Central Ave., Tifton, Georgia 31793.
