Mrs. Louise Hendley, 90 of Adel, Georgia passed away on September 29, 2026 at Berrien Oaks Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Nashville, Georgia. Mrs. Hendley was born on July 11, 1936 in Cook County to the late Joseph Bryant Cowart and the late Minnie Leola Akridge Cowart. She lived most of her life in Cook County and was a member of the Cecil Baptist Church. Mrs. Hendley was a Licensed Practical Nurse and retired from the Berrien Nursing Center in Nashville.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Rev. Johnny and Wanda Hendley, Jr. of Cecil, Georgia; three daughters and two sons-in-law: Paula McIntyre, Sherry and Ricky Young, Amy and Dewade Bostic, all of Adel; son-in-law, Ronald "Cotton" Hewitt of Adel; 13 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; her brother and sister-in-law; Johnny and Emily Cowart of Lenox, Georgia; two sisters-in-law: Naomi Cowart of Adel and Joan Cowart of New York, New York. A host of nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Rev John C. Hendley, Sr., and her daughter, Carol Hewitt.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, October 1, 2026 at the Chapel of Boone Funeral Home with Rev. Johnny Hendley, Jr. officiating and an eulogy given by her granddaughter, Sarah Bostic. Interment followed at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation took place from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Boone Funeral Home; 1804 S. Hutchinson Ave. in Adel, immediately prior to the funeral service. Macey Edwards and Anna Gosier sang "Amazing Grace"; other special music included recordings of "Suppertime" and "Beulah Land". Jay Hendley, Will Hendley, Paul McIntyre, Michael Ward, Stacy Skinner, Matthew Webster, Samuel Webster and Ron Edwards served as pallbearers.
