Mr. Marc Croom, Jr., age 81, of Hahira, Georgia, passed away on August 21, 2024 at his residence.  Mr. Croom was born on December 10, 1942 in New Hanover, North Carolina to the late Marcus Jacobi Croom, Sr. and Laura Clarice Johnson Croom.  He lived in Rincon, Georgia before moving to Lowndes County in April of 2022.  Mr. Croom is a member of Fellowship Baptist Church and was a retired inspector for Hussey Gay Bell and DeYoung Engineering Firm.  Mr. Croom was also a Mason and served honorably in the United States Army.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing and especially his Saturday morning prayer group.

Mr. Croom is survived by his wife, Patricia Jane "Janie" Sims Croom of Hahira; his son and daughter-in-law, Marcus Croom, III and Patricia Croom of Summerville, South Carolina; two step-sons and one daughter-in-law: Keith Barrett, Lee and Jean Barrett, all of Hahira; two brothers and sisters-in-law: Parris and Barbara Croom of Wilmington, North Carolina; Jeff and Mary Beth Croom of Atlantic Beach, Florida; five grandchildren and one step-grandson.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Croom was preceded in death by his daughter, Laura Elizabeth Lurk, and one brother, Leslie Croom.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM on Friday, August 23, 2024 at Fellowship Baptist Church with Rev. Ike Jefferson officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Visitation took place at the church one hour prior to the funeral service.  "Up On the Mountain" and "Amazing Grace" were played at the service.
