Petty Officer Second Class Mark Lane Hendrix (retired), 53, of Adel, GA, passed away October 22, 2015 at his home. He was born November 7, 1961 in Cordell, OK to Earl Landon Hendrix and Kathryn Elaine "Kem" Mashburn Hendrix. He lived in Adel for the past 22 years and was a member of Open Door Baptist Church. He served his country honorably in the United States Navy where he retired as an aircraft hydraulics mechanic. He was also a member of VFW Post 5978 of Nashville, GA.
Mr. Hendrix is survived by his loving wife, Gwen Hendrix of Adel; four sons and two daughters-in-law: Lance Hendrix of Adel, Travis and Cindy Hendrix of Ft. Riley, KS, Justin Hendrix of Kingsville, TX, and Darron and Nakita Most of San Antonio, TX; a daughter and her fiancé, Marley Burke and Andrew Holcomb of Adel; his parents, Earl and Kem Hendrix of Adel; five grandchildren: Amethyst Hendrix of Adel, Alexa Ertl of Ft. Riley, Caiden Hendrix of Ft. Riley, Kathryn Jones of Adel, and Gracelynn Hendrix of Ft. Riley; a brother and sister-in-law, Craig Landon Hendrix and Candy Hendrix of Provo, UT; a niece, Morgan Tangren, and a nephew, Aaron Hendrix.
The family received friends Saturday October 24, 2015 from 6 until 8 PM at Boone Funeral Home. The funeral service was conducted at 2:00 PM Sunday October 25, 2015, at Open Door Baptist Church in Adel with Rev. Gary James and Rev. Jody Futch officiating. Travis Hendrix, Lance Hendrix, Darron Most, Steve Barnes, Jacob Key and Andrew Holcomb served as pallbearers. Wendy Holcomb played piano and Marley Burke sang "Ten Thousand Reasons"; Morgan Tangren sang "For Good"; Mance Cloud sang "Faces"; Dan Dalhover sang "Battle Hymn of the Republic"; Gary James and Becky Futch sang "Why Me"; and Becky Futch sang "The Anchor Holds", "I Will Rise" and led the congregation in the singing of "Amazing Grace".
