Mrs. Marlene Rountree VanBrackle, 77, of Adel, Georgia passed away March 29, 2018 at the Cook Senior Living Center.  She was born September 15, 1940 in Moultrie, Georgia to the late Cecil and Carolyn Roberson Rountree.  Mrs. VanBrackle lived in Cook county all of her life and was retired from the Cook County Board of Education.  She was a member of the Evergreen Baptist Church.

Mrs. VanBrackle is survived by her daughter, Susie VanBrackle of Adel; one sister, Carol R. Waites of Norman Park, Georgia; numerous nieces and nephews and other very special family members.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray H. VanBrackle, Jr., and her sister, Julia R. Roberts.

Funeral services were held at 3:00 PM Saturday, March 31, 2018 in the Chapel of Boone Funeral Home with Rev. William Davis officiating.  Interment  followed at the Rountree Cemetery.  Visitation was from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday, March 30, 2018 at Boone Funeral Home South, 1804 S. Hutchinson Ave. in Adel, Georgia.  Luke Rountree, Clint Rountree, Jarrod Roberts, Michael Rountree, J.C. Meeler and Jody Meeler served as pallbearers.  Mary Ann Knox sang "Jealous of the Angels" and "Dancing in the Sky."
