Mrs. Mary Lou Mixon, 81, of Adel, Georgia, passed away Saturday, February 21, 2015 at the Cook Senior Living Center. Mrs. Mixon was born April 5, 1933 in Cook County to the late Harmon Elliot Crosby, Sr. and Gladys Dickerson Crosby. She lived all of her life in Cook County, was a member of the Antioch United Methodist Church and retired from Curtis Packing Company.
Mrs. Mixon is survived by her son, Jackson Mixon of Adel; daughter and son-in-law, Dianne and Johnny Danforth of Leesburg, Georgia; one brother, Frank Crosby of Adel; three sisters: Hilda C. Rice of Adel, Annette C. Norman of Norman Park, Georgia, and Carolyn C. Noles of Perry, Florida; two great-grandchildren: Alexis and Bailey Danforth of Leesburg; several nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kether Jackson "Junior" Mixon, Jr.; a grandson, Jason Danforth; a granddaughter, Cara Danforth; one brother, Harmon Elliot Crosby, Jr.; and two sisters: Noma Crosby and Freddie Carol Crosby.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at the Antioch United Methodist Church with Rev. Christie Bandy officiating. Visitation was held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Monday, February 23, 2015 at Boone Funeral Home; 1804 S. Hutchinson Ave; Adel, Georgia. Interment followed in the Antioch Church Cemetery. Thomas Norman, James Rice, Shane Parker, Michael Bristol, Jeff Parker, and Wayne Castleberry served as pallbearers. Wayne and Mary Nell Boyette sang "I Call It Home" and "Beulah Land"; the congregation sang "Amazing Grace"; Johnnie Lou Ellenberg and Mrs. Boyette played the piano.
