Mrs. Mary Parker, 93, of Lenox, Georgia passed away Sunday October 29, 2017 at her home. She was born on October 18, 1924 in Fender, Georgia (Tift County) to James Austin Smith and Janie Susan Otwell Smith. She lived most of her life in Cook County where she was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church. Mrs. Parker was retired from Bethany Nursing Home where she worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant and was also a veteran of World War II where she served in the United States Navy as a member of the Waves.
Mrs. Parker is survived by her five children: Charles Parker and fiancee Fern of Winter Haven, FL, Eddie and Peggy Parker of Savannah (currently in Saudi Arabia), Molly and Donald Rutland of Tallahassee, FL, Maxie Parker of Lenox, Lisha and Larry Lawrence of Adel; 13 grandchildren: Melody and Roger McGregor, Loretta and Lance Foster, Lorraine and Durwood Chance, Jeffrey Parker, Emily Gualdoni, Grant Rutland, Chris Rutland, Jason Rutland, Ryane and Steve Meadows, Ashley and Mike Pinson, Erin and Spencer Price, Jared and Melanie Lawrence, Bubba and Jessica Lawrence; 28 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Belle Rountree of Adel. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Lee Parker, Sr.; a grandson, Travis Rutland; a great-granddaughter, Gracie Lawrence; four brothers: Grady E. Smith, Clark C. Smith, J.C. Smith and James A. Smith, Jr.; and two sisters, Rose Coker and Vera Mae Loyd.
The family will receive friends Wednesday evening November 1, 2017 from 6 until 8 PM at Boone Funeral Home South, 1804 S. Hutchinson Ave. in Adel. The funeral service will be conducted at 11 AM on Thursday November 2, 2017 at Lakeview Baptist Church in Lenox with Rev. John Werner and Rev. Jimmy Parker officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. Grant Rutland, Chris Rutland, Jeffrey Parker, Jason Rutland, Ryane Meadows, Jared Lawrence, Bubba Lawrence and Spencer Price will serve as pallbearers.
