Mrs. Mary Belle Smith, 90, of Adel, Georgia passed away October 16, 2014 at the Cook Senior Living Center in Adel. She was born July 22, 1924 in Marion County, Alabama to the late Elisha Bert Franks and Cora Ethel Franks Franks. She lived most of her life in Cook County. Mrs. Smith was a homemaker and a member of the Pink Ladies Auxilliary. She attended Morningside Baptist Church in Valdosta and was a former member of Evergreen Baptist Church. Mrs. Smith was the widow of the late James Coleman Smith.

She is survived by three sons and daughter-in-laws: Wayne and Pat Smith of Moultrie, Georgia, Ronald Smith, Sr. of Thomasville, Georgia and Tommy and Cheryll Smith of Adel; two daughters and son-in-law: Jane S. Folsom of Valdosta, Brenda and Houston Tyson of Adel; ten grandchildren: Karen Allen of Newnan, Georgia; Lynn Courvelle of Sugarland, Texas; Stacy Rogers of Madison, Alabama; Celena Wingate of Hartsfield, Georgia; Anita Spradley of Norman Park, Georgia; Joy Nix of Moultrie; Ron Smith, Jr. of Thomasville; Pam Castillo of Oklawaha, Florida; Tabitha Rewis of Ochlocknee, Georgia and Kimberly Richardson of Adel; several Great Grandchildren; a special cousin, Mildred Keene and her husband, Curtis of Pitts, Georgia and Mildred's daughter, Melba Bennett of Ponchatoula, Louisiana; two sister-in-laws: Mrs. Belle Rountree of Adel and Mrs. Mary Parker of Lenox, Georgia.

Mrs. Smith's family received friends Friday, October 17, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Boone Funeral Home, 1804 S. Hutchinson Ave. in Adel. The funeral service was held at 3:00 PM Saturday, October 18, 2014 at the Evergreen Baptist Church in Cook County with Rev. Wayne Boykin and Rev. Wayne Robertson officiating. Interment followed at Woodlawn Memorials Gardens in Adel. The Rountree Family sang "Beulah Land" and "I Want Us To Be Together In Heaven". Ron Smith, Jr., Brandon Smith, Karston Spradley, Everett Franks, Dennis Burgess and Jerry Rewis served as pallbearers. Walter Burgess, Jody Meeler, John Campbell and the Pink Ladies Auxilliary served as honary pallbearers. Flowers were accepted or memorials may be made to American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org)
