Mrs. Mary Eleanor Watson, 76, of Sparks, Georgia, passed away December 3, 2014 at South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta, Georgia. She was born in Cook County to the late John Roy Rowan and Essie Barton Rowan. She retired after spending over 25 years as a master cosmetologist and live most of her life in Cook County where she was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church in Lenox, Georgia.
Mrs. Watson is survived by her husband of over 57 years, Mr.P.H. Watson of Sparks; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Paul Watson, and Robert and Elizabeth "Liz" Watson, all of Valdosta; four grandsons: Andrew Watson of Valdosta, Matthew J. Watson of Pennsylvania PA, Perry Watson of Atlanta, Georgia, and Clay Watson of Sparks; one brother, Melvyn Rowan of Adel; and two sisters: Merle Buckholts of Tifton, Georgia, and Hazel Baker of Lenox. She was was preceded in death her daughter, Mary Kay Watson; a brother, Curtis Rowan; and two sisters, Mildred Langdon and Reba Nell Walters.
The Watson family received friends Friday evening December 5, 2014 from 6 until 8 pm at Boone Funeral Home, 1804 S. Hutchinson Ave. in Adel. The funeral service took place Saturday December 6, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Lakeview Baptist Church in Lenox with Rev. Dillard Ensley officiating. Interment followed at Lakeview Church Cemetery. Clay Watson, Andrew C. Watson, Timmy Baker, Keith Giddens, T.J. Williams, and David Stafford served as pallbearers. Susie Betts played piano and the special selections, "Peace in the Valley" and "How Great Thou Art," were also played at the service.
