Mrs. Melissa "Missy" Flanders Harrelson, 52, of Sparks, Georgia, passed away at her home in the Chaserville Community on August 31, 2019. She was born at Smith Hospital in Hahira, Georgia, but lived most of her life in Cook County. She was a member of Brushy Creek Baptist Church and was a retired cosmetologist.
Mrs. Harrelson is survived by her son, Michael Roberds of Sparks; her father and step-mother, Wayne and Jean Flanders of Okeechobee, Florida; a brother and sister-in-law, Travis and Layne Flanders of Grayson, Georgia; a step-brother and sisters-in-law, Lee and Linda Jones of Okeechobee; a step-sister and brother-in-law, Cindy and Richard Humphreys of Houston, Texas. Several aunts and uncles and many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Harrelson; her baby daughter, Reba Mulgrew; her mother, Cheryl Faye Webb Flanders; and a brother, David Flanders.
In keeping with her wishes, Mrs. Harrelson was cremated. A memorial service is planned for Saturday, September 21, 2019, at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Boone Funeral Home (1804 S. Hutchinson Ave. in Adel) with Rev. Jimmy Parker officiating. Special music to be played at the service will be "In the Garden," "I'll Fly Away" and the Whitney Houston remake of "I Will Always Love You."
