Rev. Michael "Mike" Brannon, Jr., age 53, of Adel, Georgia, passed away at his home on September 15, 2025. He was born on August 1, 1972 in Adel and lived in Cook County most of his life. Rev. Brannon was a supervisor for the Farm Service Agency in Moutrie, Georgia. He was also the Pastor for Evergreen Baptist Church for the past 21 years.
Rev. Brannon is survived by his wife, Heather DeAnne Shirah Brannon of Adel; his son, Salem Brannon of Adel; his daughter and son-in-law, Shirah and Ethan Sharp of Nashville, Georgia; grandson, Bennett Sharp of Nashville; father, Mike Brannon, Sr. of Adel; mother and step-father, Wanda Thornton Harnage and Mike Harnage of Hahira, Georgia; a sister, Melissa Pate of Ashburn, Georgia; mother-in-law, Ruth Shirah of Adel; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Rev. Brannon took place at 11:00 AM on Thursday, September18, 2025 at Evergreen Baptist Church with Rev. Jody Futch, Rev. Garvie Nichols and Rev. Jeff McCartney officiating along with Mr. Jeremy Johnston providing the eulogy. Interment followed on the church grounds at Rountree Cemetery with Rev. Gary James officiating the graveside service. Visitation was held Wednesday evening, September 17, 2025 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Boone Funeral Home. Carl Nichols, George Griffin, Zack Railey, Bo Rountree, Brent Bloser, Lorin Pezent, Colin Millison, Johnny Rountree and Denver Braswell served as active pallbearers. Lorena Boyd, Diane Lindsey, Heather Robinson, Kansas Goff and Karen Goines served as honorary pallbearers. Becky Futch played piano and sang "Three Bells," Steve Burdett sang "Man on the Middle Cross" and the congregation sang "I Love My Savior, Too." In lieu of flowers it is requested that donations be made to The Gideons c/o Donnie Philpot (PO Box 1122; Adel, Georgia 31620)..
