Mrs. Nettie Folsom Lawrence, 89, of Valdosta, Georgia, formerly of Adel, passed away at South Georgia Medical Center on September 20, 2014. She was born May 20, 1925 in Cook County to the late Grandberry and Alice Tillman Pilcher. She lived most of her life in Cook County, was a member of the Springhead Baptist Church, and a homemaker. She was the widow of her first husband, Wilburn L. Folsom, and her second husband, Calvin J. Lawrence.

Mrs. Lawrence is survived by her son, Benny W. Folsom, and granddaughter, Erynn Folsom, both of Canton, Georgia; two step-sons and a daughter-in-law: Dr. Robert Lawrence, and his wife, Wanda, of Gonzales, Louisiana, and Ronald Lawrence of Powder Springs, Georgia; two brothers: Eugene Pilcher of Sparks, Georgia, and Curtis Pilcher of Adel; one sister, Betty R. Bailey of Valdosta; numerous step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husbands, she was also preceded in death by four brothers: Claude Pilcher, Sr., Lewis Pilcher, Russell Pilcher and Wilburn Pilcher.

Funeral services were conducted at 3 PM Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at Springhead Baptist Church with Rev. Jack Seiverd, Rev. Joey Taylor, and Dr. Robert Lawrence officiating. Interment followed at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Lisa Folsom and Mary Nell Boyette played the piano; Ms. Folsom also sang "Jesus and Me"; Mrs. Boyette and Wayne Boyette sang "I Stand Amazed" and "I'll Fly Away." Ricky Pilcher, Jerry Pilcher, Lee Folsom, Denny Folsom, Leslie Folsom, and Brad Folsom served as pallbearers.
