Mrs. Nina Wetherington Rutland, 86, of Lenox, Georgia, passed away on July 15, 2025 at the Langdale Hospice House in Valdosta, Georgia. Mrs. Rutland was born on November 15, 1938, in Savannah, Georgia, to the late Eulie Shelton "E.S." "Buddy" Wetherington, Sr. and the late Flora Trammell Wetherington. She lived most of her life in Cook County and was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church. Mrs. Rutland was the owner and operator of the Merle Norman stores in Adel and Tifton. She loved serving the Lord and her customers, praying for them regularly.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Terri Rutland of Hahira, Georgia; her daughter-in-law, Penny J. Rutland of Cecil, Georgia; four grandchildren: Dillon and Kaylie Rutland of Tampa, Florida, Jessica and Travis Meeks of Powder Springs, Georgia, Alana and Justin Rozar of Cecil, Haley and Nate Bassett of Hahira; five great grandchildren: Bobby Meeks of Powder Springs, Jackson Bassett, Harrison Bassett and Haylan Bassett, all of Hahira, and John Asher Rozar of Cecil; one brother, Ronald Wetherington of Fernandina Beach, Florida; two sisters and brothers-in-law: Joyce and Terry Moore of Gray, Georgia, and Diane and John Lauten of Navarre, Florida. A host of nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Rutland was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Rutland; her son, Marty Rutland; one sister, Sonya Ellen Wetherington; and one brother, Shelton Wetherington, Jr.
A graveside service will be held at 12:00 PM on Friday, July 18, 2025, at the Rutland Family Cemetery in Tift County with Rev. Jeff Carter officiating and special remarks being given by Deanne Jones and Michael Jones. Interment will follow. Visitation will take place from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM on Friday, July 18, 2025 at Boone Funeral Home, Inc. (1804 S. Hutchinson Ave.; Adel, Georgia) prior to the graveside service at Rutland Family Cemetery. Justin Rozar, Nate Bassett, Dillon Rutland, Travis Meeks, Bobby Meeks, Jackson Bassett, Harrison Bassett, John Asher Rozar and Haylan Bassett will serve as pallbearers. "Amazing Grace", "Because He Lives" and "Beulah Land" will be played at the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice in honor of Mrs. Rutland.
