Mr. Paul G. Young, 78, of Adel, Georgia, passed away on November 21, 2018 at Baptist Medical Center in Jacksonville, Florida. He was born in Cook County on September 7, 1940 to his late parents, Rev. Benjamin Glen Young and Audrey Pearl Malpas Young Moore. He lived all of his life in Cook County where he was a retired insurance salesman and financial advisor. He was also a member of GracePoint Church in Valdosta, Georgia.
Mr. Young is survived by his loving wife, Ann Graves Young of Adel; two sons and daughters-in-law: Pastor Dell and Jill Young of Valdosta, Danny and Kelly Young of Adel; a daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Tommy Garrett of Hahira, Georgia; seven grandchildren and their spouses: Nikki and Matt Thomas of Hahira, Justin and Brandi Young of Valdosta, Nicholas and Lindsay Young of Adel, Kristian and John Tanner of Valdosta, Jarred and Lauren Garrett of Adel, Austin and Lora Young of Adel, Blake and Lindsey Garrett of Pooler, Georgia; fifteen great-grandchildren; one brother, Jimmy Young of Nashville, Georgia; and one sister, Audrey Dickerson of Adel.
The funeral service was held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 24, 2018, in the Chapel of Boone Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Blair officiating. Interment followed at Woodlawn Cemetery Annex in Adel. No formal visitation was conducted. Justin Young, Nicholas Young, Jarred Garrett, Austin Young, Blake Garrett and Ronald Covington served as pallbearers. John Tanner played guitar and sang "Go Rest High on That Mountain;" Matt Thomas played piano and joined Steve Meders in the singing of "Amazing Grace" and Mr. Meders also sang "The Anchor Holds."
