Mrs. Peggy Copeland Bowman, 85, of Sparks, Georgia, passed away March 10, 2015 at The Fellowship Home in Valdosta, Georgia. She was born August 5, 1929 in Naylor, Georgia to the late Kelsie Lott Copeland and Ava Nell Cowart Copeland. She lived most of her life in Cook County, was retired from the Cook County Board of Education where she served as lunchroom manager for Adel Elementary School, and was a member of Sparks United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Bowman is survived by her three sons and two daughters-in-law: Larry and Gayle Bowman of Travelers Rest, South Carolina, Phill Bowman of Albany, Georgia, and Harold and Jeri Bowman of Gainesville, Florida; two daughters and a son-in-law: Glenda Zoeller of Titusville, Florida, and Janet and Kirk Gordon of Adel, Georgia; nine grandchildren and their spouses: Stephanie Bencsik, Craig and Karla Hutchinson, Steven and Shelley Bowman, Eric and Paige Gordon, April and Jeff Gattis, Jennifer and Brad Smith, Samantha and Jay Webster, Sable Bowman, and Andrea Bowman; fourteen great-grandchildren; two brothers: Bobby Copeland of Titusville, and Ben Copeland of Lakeland, Georgia; and a sister, Geraldine Chason of Lakeland, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her husband, Luther Leon Bowman; and three sisters: Mary Nell Black, Margie Sewell, and Hazel Luckett.

The Bowman family received friends Friday, March 13, 2015 from 6 until 8 pm at Boone Funeral Home, 1804 S. Hutchinson Ave. in Adel. The funeral service took place Saturday, March 14, 2015 at 11 am at Sparks United Methodist Church with Mr. Harold Bowman, Rev. Eric Gordon, and Rev. Sally Flowers officiating. Interment followed at Sparks City Cemetery. Craig Hutchinson, Brad Smith, Steven Bowman, Bentley Bowman, Devin Bencsik, Royce Kendrick, Ed Revels, Reese Kendrick, and Benny Ensley served as pallbearers. The congregation sang "It Is Well" and "I'll Fly Away" and Claudette Spearman played the piano.
