Mrs. Phyllis Castleberry Cannington, 79, of Adel, Georgia, passed away on July 31, 2018 at her home. She was born in Miami, Florida on June 1, 1939 to the late William Carroll Castleberry and Estelle Lucille Ray Castleberry McGlamry. Mrs. Cannington lived most of her life in Cook County where she was retired as the Senior Coordinator for Cook County-Coastal Plains and was also of the Baptist Faith.
Mrs. Cannington is survived by her five children and their spouses: William D. Jr. and Carol Cannington of Moultrie, Georgia; Tim and Kim Cannington of Adel; Karen and David Hammer of Windemere, Florida; Ret. Col. Tom W. Cannington of Tampa, Florida; and Krista N. and Shane Rill of Adel; nine grandchildren: Michael Cannington of North, Georgia; Ryan Cannington of Rock Spring, Georgia; Lauren Cannington of Adel; Lindsey Hammer of Orlando, Florida; Courtney Hammer of Hahira, Georgia; Andrew Hammer of Windemere, Florida; Emily Cannington of Texas; Kacey and Walter Cox of Coward, South Carolina; and Tyler Siska of Adel; five great-grandchildren; and one sister, Carol Frances Crawford of St. Petersburg, Florida. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Daniel Cannington, Sr., and a sister, Marganell "Margie" Brakes.
The funeral service for Mrs. Cannington took place Thursday, August 2, 2018 at 3:00 PM in the Chapel of Boone Funeral Home. Ms. Zoe Myers and Rev. Deborah Hopper officiated. Entombment followed at the Community Mausoleum located in Woodlawn Cemetery Annex. The family received friends at the funeral home thirty minutes prior to the funeral service. Special musical selections played at the service were "Worthy is the Lamb" and "I Can Only Imagine." Billy Cannington, Jr., Tim Cannington, Shane Rill, Tyler Siska, Walter Cox, Kaleb Rentz and Taylor Wood served as pallbearers.
