Mr. Raymond H. Pafford, 81, of Adel, Georgia, passed away on Friday, May 1, 2020, at Langdale Hospice House in Valdosta, Georgia. He was the son of John Henry Pafford and Cecilia McDaniel Pafford and was born in Adel on September 21, 1938. Mr. Pafford was retired from the U.S. Army 101st Airborne Division and served in the Vietnam War. After retiring from the military he returned to Cook County where he served for 26 years with the Adel Police Department until he retired from the police force. He was a member of Antioch United Methodist Church.
Mr. Pafford is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Ray and Tara Pafford of Barney, Georgia; his daughter and son-in-law, Sherry and Thomas Brown of Jacksonville, Florida; four grandchildren: Connor and Alexandria Brown of Jacksonville and Kate and John Henry Pafford of Barney. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary L. Lehmann Pafford.
A graveside service with military honors provided by the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter #1090 was held for Mr. Pafford on Sunday, May 3, 2020 at Antioch United Methodist Church Cemetery in Cook County with Dr. Gary Brady officiating. Special music selections played at the service were Alan Jackson's rendition of "In the Garden" and Jeremy Camp's "There Will Be a Day."
