Mr. Reuben M. McCranie, Jr., 81 of Adel, Georgia passed away November 12, 2016 at the Langdale Hospice House in Valdosta, Georgia. Mr. McCranie was born August 30, 1935 in Cook County to his late parents, Reuben Martin McCranie, Sr. and Flossie Wheeler McCranie. He lived all of his life in Cook County and was a retired carpenter. He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Adel First Assembly of God.
Mr. McCranie is survived by his wife, Mrs. Evelyn F. Reddick McCranie of Adel; two sons and daughters-in-law: Dwaine and Iris Reddick of Enterprise, Alabama; Dennis and Elaine Reddick of Adel; four grandchildren: Jennifer R. Davis and Laine Reddick, both of Enterprise, Alabama; Shellie R. and Ernie Phillips of Sparks, Georgia, Kristi R. and Cale Giddens of Barney, Georgia; four great-granchildren; two sisters, Oneta Folds of Sparks and Wanda Folsom of Adel. He was preceded in death by a brother, Bob McCranie and a sister, Doris Mozzo.
Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 AM. Monday, November 14, 2016 at the Chapel of Boone Funeral Home with Rev. Eric Gordon and Rev. Chris Newbern officiating. Visitation was held one hour prior to the time of service, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM, at 1804 S. Hutchinson Ave.; Adel, Georgia. Interment followed in the Sparks City Cemetery. Marvin Fulghum, Derrell Folsom, Jack Fulghum, Arthur Fulghum, Derrell Fulghum and Jeff Royals served as active pallbearers; G.B. Best, Junior Futch, Scotty Williams, Brian Stone, Paul Withersponn, Joe Lewis, Harold Spradley, Marty McCranie and Robbie Davis served as honorary pallbearers. Charlotte Dickerson played the piano, Paige Gordon and Brittney Mainor sang "Amazing Grace" and the congregation sang "Shall We Gather at the River" and "What a Day That Will Be".
