Mr. Robert James "Bob" Griner, Jr. 81, of Valdosta, passed away October 1, 2017 at Lakehaven Nursing Home in Valdosta. He was born on October 12, 1935 in Nashville, Georgia to Robert James Griner, Sr. and Laverne Edna Hanks Griner, both now deceased. Mr. Griner was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church and a retired registered nurse. He lived most of his life in Cook County and the last several years in Valdosta.

Mr. Griner is survived by two sons, Robert Griner, III of Lake Park, Georgia and Richard Griner of Savannah, Georgia; a daughter, Lisa Stroika of Washington, Georgia; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Audrey Wilkerson of Douglas, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his brother, Bruce Griner.

The funeral service for Mr. Griner was Thursday, October 5, 2017 at 4:00 PM in the chapel of Boone Funeral Home South (1804 S. Hutchinson Ave. in Adel) with Mr. Doug Griner officiating. Interment followed at Springhead Church Cemetery. Robert Griner, Richard Griner, Doug Griner, Steven Griner, Austin Griner and Judah Griner served as pallbearers. The family received friends at the funeral home two hours prior to the funeral service.
