Mr. Ronald D. "Sonny" Bennett, 70, of Sparks, Georgia passed away February 20, 2016 from injuries received in an automobile accident. Mr. Bennett was born November 30, 1945 in Colquitt County to the late William Ira and Aline Harris Bennett. Mr. Bennett had lived most of his life in Cook County. He was a member of the Brushy Creek Baptist Church and a heavy equipment operator.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Pruitt Bennett; one son Scott Bennett, daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and LaDon Wilkerson, all of Sparks; special children, Jeff and Glenda Shealey; six grandchildren: Amber and Sharrod Fulghum of Adel, Kasey and Clint Casey of Thomasville, Amanda and Andrew McDowell of Hahira, Candace and Wayne Palmer, Cole Bennett, all of Lakeland, and Kelcie Wilkerson of Sparks; four great-grandchildren: Halie and Hannah Fulghum of Adel, Payton McDowell of Hahira, Claire Palmer of Lakeland; two brothers: Donald and Carlos Bennett of Enigma, Georgia; Special grandchildren: Makenzee Shealey, Kaydee and Cam Phelps, Kolby Shealey and Mason Phelps, all of Adel.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at the Brushy Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmy Parker and Rev. Ike Jefferson officiating. Interment will follow at the Antioch United Methodist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Monday, February 22, 2016 at Boone Funeral Home, 1804 S. Hutchinson Ave., Adel, Georgia. Calvin Griffin, Carlos Bennett, Lee Griffin, Michael Bennett, Jay Joiner, Jerry Purvis and Randy Harris will serve as pallbearers. Bettye and Jack Joiner will sing "Precious Lord, Take My Hand", "I Saw the Light" and "I Can't Even Walk Without You Holding My Hand" and Mrs. Joiner will also play the piano.
