Mr. Roy Rutland, 84, of Lenox, Georgia passed away on December 18, 2020 at Tift Regional Medical Center.  He was born February 24, 1936 in Cook County to the late Lawrence Green Rutland, Sr. and Lola Jane Griffin Rutland.  Mr. Rutland was a life long resident and farmer in Cook and Tift Counties.  He was a member of the Lakeview Baptist Church in Lenox.  Roy loved farming, fishing, and visiting with his friends and family.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Nina Wetherington Rutland of Lenox; one son and two daughters-in-law: Rick and Terri Rutland of Hahira, Georgia, and Penny Rutland of Lenox; his grandchildren are Jessica and Travis Meeks of Powder Springs, Georgia, Alana and Justin Rozar of Cecil, Georgia, Haley and Nate Bassett of Hahira and Dillon Rutland of Thomasville, Georgia; five great grandchildren: Bobby Meeks of Powder Springs, Jackson, Harrison and Haylan Bassett of Hahira and John Asher Rozar of Cecil; one brother and sister-in-law, Bobby and Angie Rutland of Lenox; four sisters and one brother-in-law: Bonnie Carmichael of Tifton, Georgia, Sara Rutland of Jasper, Alabama, Susie and Don Harris, and Cindy Sprurlin, all of Lenox.  A host of nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Marty Rutland; four brothers: Lawrence G. Rutland, Jr.; Larry Rutland, Ted Rutland and infant brother; and three sisters: Iris Chapman, Betty Jane Penny and Patsy Ruth Rutland.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, December 21, 2020 at the Rutland Cemetery in Tift County with Mr. Terrell Rutland  officiating and providing the eulogy.  Interment will follow.  "Amazing Grace" will be played at the service.  The family requests that those attending please wear a mask and practice social distancing due to the Covid virus.
