Mrs. Sally Ruth Bennett, 81, of Lenox (West Berrien Community), passed away on October 6, 2017 at her home. She was born on February 13, 1936 in Cook County to her late parents, Thomas and Gladys Weeks Williams. She lived most of her life in Berrien County where she was a member of New River Free Holiness Church and served her family as a homemaker.
Mrs. Bennett is survived by three daughters and a son-in-law: Nelda Wood, Elizabeth Bennett, and Janie and Roy Rico, and a daughter-in-law, Annie Mae Bennett, all of Lenox (West Berrien Community); eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Nelson "Buck" Bennett, and her son, Danny Bennett.
The family received friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Saturday October 7, 2017 at Boone Funeral Home South, 1804 S. Hutchinson Ave. in Adel. The funeral service took place at 3:00 pm on Sunday October 8, 2017 in the Chapel of Boone Funeral Home South with Rev. Steve Brock officiating. Interment followed at New River Holiness Church Cemetery in Berrien County. Church members played piano, guitar, and bass and sang "There'll Be a Payday," "I Want to Know How it Feels," "Ain't No Grave," "My Friend, Jesus" and "Family Circle." Jamie Purvis, Justin Simpson, Manuel Garcia, Randall Myers, Tim Stone, Clay Connell, Steve Brock and Ben Brock served as pallbearers.
