Mr. Sammy Odom, age 76, of Adel, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, July 14, 2016, at his daughter's home surrounded by his loving family. Born on August 24, 1939, in Madison, FL to the late Randle Yates and Mary Ellen (Carter) Odom, he was a lifelong resident of Cook County. In the last several months he had attended Fellowship Baptist Church in Hahira, GA. Sammy was the former superintendent of Del-Cook Lumber Company for over 30 years and later owned and operated Sam's Welding and Sam's Truck and Auto Repair at the Adel Truck Stop. He was also a former volunteer for the Adel Fire Department.

Mr. Odom is survived by his son, Sonny of Orlando, FL; two daughters and a son-in-law, Bonnie Vining of Adel and Bea and Larry Blankenship of Marietta, GA. He is also survived by his brother and sister, Willie Odom (Betty) and Lila Webb (Lavalle), both of Madison, FL. He was the loving grandfather of Jeff Vining II and Torie of West Enosburg Vermont, Brandy Vining and Cody Vining of Adel, Trey Blankenship and Lexie Blankenship of Marietta, and great-grandfather to Chloe Vining and Brooke Sanders of Adel, Emily Vining of West Enosburg, Lydia Sanders of Adel, Gracie Vining Jeff Robert Vining and Wyatt Vining all of West Enosburg. Mr. Odom is also survived by his companion, Alberta Tarrant.

Funeral services for Mr. Odom were held on Sunday July 17, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Fellowship Baptist Church with Rev. Webster Johnson officiating. Special music selections by CD: "When The Angels Come For Me",and "By The Mark". Active Pallbearers were Stephen Rutherford, Jeff Vining, Sr., Gondra Crumbley, Timmy Crumbley, Thomas Dickerson and Mann Lane. Honorary Pallbearers were Audie Rowe, Thom Daughtrey, Dennis Baldree, Colin Millison, Doug Hanks, Jake Daughtrey and Andy Meeler. A Graveside service and interment followed the church service at 5:00 PM at San Pedro Cemetery 9229 SW CR-14 Madison, FL 32340. Memorial donations in memory of Sammy may be made to Hospice of South Georgia (P.O. Box 1727, Valdosta, GA 31603) or to the American Stroke Association (7272 Greenville Ave., Dallas, TX 75231).
