Mrs. Sara Jones Fleming, 89, of Valdosta, Georgia, formerly of Adel, Georgia, passed away on February 23, 2025 at the Fellowship Home at Brookside in Valdosta. Mrs. Fleming was born on September 12, 1935 in Adel, Georgia to the late Quillie Wade Jones, Sr. and the late Mary Bennett Moore Jones. She lived most of her life in Cook County and was a member of the Adel United Methodist Church. She was retired from the Department of Family and Children Services where she was an administrative assistant.
Mrs. Fleming is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Don Fleming and Margaret Bodde of Montclair, New Jersey; one daughter, Charlotte Fleming Guthrie of Adel; four grandchildren: Clint and Jessica Hale of Orange, Virginia, Katherine and Casey Bowers of Moriah, New York, Anna Fleming and John Fleming, both of Montclair, New Jersey; one great grandson, Dennis Blaine Bowers of Moriah, New York; one sister, Betty Coppage of Waycross, Georgia; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Blaine Fleming; a son-in-law, Donnie Guthrie; four brothers: Quillie Wade Jones Jr., Foster Jones, Carson Jones and Marley Jones; and seven sisters: Edith Bridges, Annie Ward, Mattie Lou Flowers, Louise Whitehurst, Mary Evelyn Cherven, Willene Jones and Irma Kirby.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 1, 2025 at the Adel Wesleyan Church with Rev. Doug Tolson officiating. Interment will follow at Antioch Methodist Church Cemetery. Visitation will take place at the church from 1:00 to 2:00 PM prior to the service. The congregation will sing "O Worship The King" and "All The Way My Savior Leads Me," and the church choir will sing "It Is Well With My Soul". "Going Home" will be played as the family exits the church. Matthew Manning, Philip Manning, Ronnie Guthrie, Ronnie "Beau" Guthrie Jr., Tommy Guthrie, and Lyn Pickle will serve as pallbearers.
