Mrs. Sue Hutchinson Spires, 76, of Sparks, Georgia, passed away on Monday, August 6, 2018 at her home. She was born in Irwin County, Georgia, on September 17, 1941, to the late Clarence Thornton "C.T." and F. Julia Vandiver Hutchinson. Mrs. Spires was retired from Mary's Haven where she worked as a personal caregiver and also previously worked at Dairy Queen and Williams Investments. She was a member of Brushy Creek Baptist Church.
Mrs. Spires is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law: Debra and Tim Copeland of Franklin, North Carolina, Donna and Scott Bjordal of Moultrie, Georgia, and Susan and Johnny Skinner of Sparks; three grandchildren: Samantha Copeland of Franklin, Jamie and Desiree Spires of Sparks, and Skylar Skinner of Sparks; one great-grandchild, James Spires of Sparks; and four sisters: Linda Hutchinson of Adel, Judy Hutchinson of Adel, Elizabeth Johnson of Sparks and Debra Bennett of Adel. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Carroll Spires; a brother, Gene Hutchinson; and two sisters, Margaret Davis and Jackie Stone.
The funeral service was held on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Boone Funeral Home South (1804 S. Hutchinson Ave. in Adel) with Rev. Jimmy Parker officiating. Interment followed at Woodlawn Cemetery Annex. Skylar Skinner, Jamie Spires, Ryan Taylor, Steven Bennett, William Webb and Mike Robinson served as pallbearers. The musical group, In His Name, sang "Go Rest High on That Mountain" and "I Can Only Imagine;" "The Far Side Banks of Jordan" was also played at the service.
