Mrs. Susan Alexander, 62, of Adel, Georgia, passed away at her home on Tuesday November 7, 2017. She was born on November 23, 1954 in Clearwater, Florida to her late parents, John Wesley Dunn, Jr. and Leila Thomas Dunn Brant. She lived in northern Virginia before moving to Cook County in 2006 and was Baptist and a retired LPN.
Mrs. Alexander is survived by her husband, Mark Alexander, Sr. of Adel; two sons, Brian Dean of Sycamore, Georgia and Ashley Dean of Lenox, Georgia; one daughter, Leila Pauline Dean of Dale City, Virginia; two step-sons and a daughter-in-law; Mark Alexander, Jr. of Manassas, Virginia and Matthew and Kristin Alexander of Adel; five grandchildren: Brianne Dean of Moultrie, Grace Alexander and Matthew Alexander of Adel, Olivia Pigg and Owen Pigg of Dale City, Virginia; a brother and sister-in-law, Rev. Wesley "Allen" and Judy Dunn of Tampa, Florida; four sisters and three brothers-in-law: Doris and John Hawkins, Sarah Beasley, Carol and Bill Cannington, all of Moultrie, and Teresa Armas and Dr. Ignacio Armas of Tampa. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Johnny Dunn and James Edward "Tommy" Dunn.
The family received friends Friday evening, November 10, 2017 from 6 until 9 PM at Boone Funeral Home South. The funeral service was held at 11:00 AM on Saturday November 11, 2017 at the Lenox Church of God in Lenox, Georgia with Rev. Wesley "Allen" Dunn, Rev. Brad McVea and Rev. John Bagley officiating. Interment followed at Woodlawn City Cemetery in Adel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Moffit Cancer Center, MBC- Foundation, 12092 Magnolia Dr.; Tampa, Florida 33612. Sherry Hinson Owens played piano and Sheri McVea, Katie Ann Ball, Dona Floyd, Linda Varnadoe, Heather Billings and Elizabeth White sang "My God is Awesome," "Holy Spirit Come and Fill This Place," "Ten Thousand Reasons" and "Amazing Grace." Matthew Alexander, Ashley Dean, Brian Dean, Dr. Ignacio Armas, Robert Vickers and Jack Crews served as active pallbearers; Donald Duren served as an honorary pallbearer.
