Obituary

Mr. Walter James "Jimmy" Stalvey, 84, of Adel, Georgia, passed away on December 25, 2020, at his son's residence in Adel.  Mr. Stalvey was born on February 5, 1936 in Lowndes County to the late Ernest Joseph Stalvey and Clara Louise Newton Stalvey.  He lived most of his life in Cook County and was a member of the New Friendship Primitive Baptist Church in Hahira, Georgia.  Mr. Stalvey was the former owner of General Pest Control.

He is survived by his wife, Blondean Folsom Stalvey of Adel; one son and daughter-in-law, Ricky and Tammy Stalvey of Adel; one daughter and son-in-law, Dayle and David Teets of Adel; five grandchildren: Stephanie Bullard and Melanie Carter, both of Adel, Seth Rountree of Valdosta, Georgia, Jessica Lawrence and Beau Stalvey, both of Adel; nine great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; one brother, Johnny Stalvey of Hahira; two sisters and one brother-in-law: Shirley and Sonny Taylor of Hahira, and Dianne Wright of Valdosta, Georgia.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by six brothers: Jackie Stalvey, Harry Stalvey, Lamar Stalvey, Buford Stalvey, Lonnie Stalvey and Gerald Stalvey; and three sisters: Dorothy Avera, Mary Helen Blackwell and Linda Plaire.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 26, 2020, at the New Friendship Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Thad Marshall and Elder Dwight Marshall officiating.  Interment followed in the church cemetery.  Visitation was held at the church one hour prior to the service.  Beau Stalvey, Seth Rountree, Bubba Lawrence, Jason Bullard, Jay Bass, and Chuck Martin served as pallbearers.  Elder Dwight Marshall led the congregation in the singing of "Thy Mercy My God, Is the Theme of My Song" and "Amazing Grace."  The family requested for anyone attending the services to please wear a mask and practice social distancing due to Covid-19.
