Mr. Wilbur C. Reed, 80 of Adel, Georgia passed away on December 9, 2020 at the Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton, Georgia. He was born on June 12, 1940 in Adel, Georgia to the late Major Clayton Reed and Doris Lucille Connell Reed. Mr. Reed was a member at Westside Baptist Church and a Mason for over 60 years. He was a retired carpenter and had lived all of his life in Cook County.
Mr. Reed is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law: Leigh and David Sears, Lana and Duke Daughtrey, all of Adel; one daughter-in-law, Lori Reed of Thomasville, Georgia; ten grandchildren: Parker and Allie Nix of Bluffton, South Carolina, Adam Reed and Jordan Reed, both of Thomasville, Hannah and Ryan Andrews of Tallahassee, Florida, Erinn Reed of Thomasville, Peyton Daughtrey, Barbara Daughtrey, Dillon Daughtrey, Luke Daughtrey and Jamie Sears, all of Adel; four sisters: Faye Rountree and Mae Guy, both of Adel, Gail Harper of Jacksonville, Florida, and Muriel Hand of Ray City, Georgia. He was preceded in death by one son, Jeffrey Reed.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, December 11, 2020 at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens with Rev. Johnny Hendley officiating. Interment will follow. Keith Giddens, Kirk Hand, Michael Rountree, Brian Giddens, Kyle Hand and Trevor Hand will serve as pallbearers. Recordings by the Believers including "Beulah Land," "I've Got More to Go to Heaven For" and "Where the Soul Never Dies" were played at the service. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be given to Westside Baptist Church, 1001 W. 4th Street; or the the Adel Masonic Lodge #310; P. O. Box 194, both in Adel, Georgia 31620.
