Mr. William H. Day, Jr., 90 of Adel, Georgia passed away December 16, 2017 at his residence. Mr. Day was born March 1, 1927 in Fitzgerald, Georgia to the late William H. Day, Sr. and Olive Hutson Day. He lived most of his life in Cook County and was a member of the Adel Church of God. Mr. Day was the owner of Days Food Mart and Day's Country Dining.
Mr. Day is survived by his son and daughter-in-law: Dr. Bill Day and Jeanie Day of Adel; two daughters and sons-in-law: Ellen and Jerry Kretlow all of Adel; Sheree and Rev. Jerry Baldree of Homerville, Georgia; six grandchildren: Wendy Fain of Adel, Tiffany Noles of Savannah, Georgia, Nathan and Rebecca Baldree of Mainor, Georgia, Summer and Rev. J. D. Quinn of Homerville, Kellie and Patrick Gaskins of St. Augustine, Florida and Bradley Day of Adel; five great grandchildren; two brothers and one sister-in-law: Bob and Grace Day of Adel, Harold Day of Sparks, Georgia. Mr. Day was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Mrs. Eunice Brooks Day and one son, Michael S. Day.
Funeral services were held at 11:00AM, Tuesday December 19, 2017 at The Adel Church of God with Rev. Jerry Baldree, Rev. David Blair, Rev. Ashley Way, Rev. Junior Dees and Rev. J.D. Quinn officiating. Interment followed at Woodlawn City Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Bradley Day, Nathan Baldree, Hunter Noles, Trevor Baldree, Emmett Gibbs, Phil Gibbs and Van Gibbs; honorary pallbearers were Tyrone McDaniel, Earl Courson, Wayne Gilliard, David Tillman, Todd Hancock, Jimmy Dickerson, Jimmy Young, Donald Lasseter, Burdette Little Bass, Brenda Schwalls, Buddy Duke, Ruby Dees Eason, Brenda Griffin, Rev. Robert and Joan Sorrow, Rev. Elmer Goldon, Herbert Lester, Larry McKinney, Rev. Tracy Swanson, Rev. Raymond and Joan Gabbard, Rev. Charles and JoAnn Blair. Greg Day sang "The Midnight Cry," the special musical selection "Through the Years" was played and Renae Cassity played piano. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Monday, December 18, 2017 at The Adel Church of God.
