Obituary

Mr. William W. Harrell, Jr., 87, of Adel, Georgia, passed away March 23, 2015 at his home. He was born July 27, 1927, in Bainbridge, Georgia, to his late parents, William Walter Harrell, Sr. and Sallie Ragan Harrell. He lived most of his life in Cook County where he was a retired poultry farmer and a member of Sparks United Methodist Church. Mr. Harrell also served his country honorably during World War II in the Seabees of the Unites States Navy.

Mr. Harrell is survived by his wife, Mildred Maddox Harrell of Adel; two sons and daughters-in-law: Dennis and Donna Harrell of Adel, and David and Mary Harrell of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; two daughters and a son-in-law: Sybil and Lamar Harris of Adel, and Sharon Harrell of Panama City, Florida; seven grandchildren and their spouses: Amy and John Brown, Justin and Misty Lasseter, Gabe and Kim Lasseter (all of Adel), Caisey and Kurt Rogers of Mexico Beach, Florida, John David Harrell of Wilmington, North Carolina, Pierce Gossow of Valdosta, Georgia, and Megan Gossow of Adel; and eight great-grandchildren: Kaylee, Dawson, Kassie, Lucas, Kade, Kendyl, Tripp, and Maddox. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Luke Harrell.

The family received friends Wednesday evening, March 25, 2015, from 6 until 8 PM at Boone Funeral Home, 1804 S. Hutchinson Ave., in Adel. The funeral service for Mr. Harrell took place Thursday, March 26, 2015 at 2 PM at Sparks United Methodist Church with Rev. Fred Foster and Rev. Sally Flowers officiating; eulogies were provided by Mr. Snuffy Smith and Mr. Ralph Smith. Interment followed at Sparks City Cemetery in Sparks, Georgia. Justin Lasseter, Gabe Lasseter, John David Harrell, Pierce Gossow, Dawson Stone, John Brown, Ralph Smith, and Snuffy Smith served as active pallbearers; James Ensley and Leonard Lindsey served as honorary pallbearers. Matt Thomas played the piano; Steve Meders sang "How Great Thou Art" and "Go Rest High on That Mountain"; special selections played at the service were "Mansion on a Hilltop" and "Lead Me Home."
