About Us

Our Heritage in funeral service in Cook and the surrounding counties has been nearly 100 years, beginning with A.D. Wiseman and then his son Thad Wiseman. The Wiseman Funeral Home was a well-known place for service, and its location was on old US Hwy. 41. Vernon A. "Pete" Boone began working with A. D. Wiseman and Thad Wiseman in 1954. Pete, along with his wife, Luverne Rewis Boone, opened Boone Funeral Home in 1964 and, in 1972, purchased the Wiseman Funeral Home. Luverne was a Registered Nurse working both with Dr. Fred Clements and at the Adel Memorial Hospital. She passed away unexpectedly in 1994. Vernon A. "Pete" Boone passed away in 2015 after serving the people of Cook and surrounding counties for over 61 1/2 years. Dale V. Boone, son of Pete and Luverne, grew up in funeral service, being fully licensed as a funeral director and embalmer in the early 1980's. Dale has always helped others as an example set by his parents. Dale is married to Dawn Spearman, and they have three sons: Tyler, Tanner, and Turner, and three grandchildren: Kenly, Kolby, and Harvey Rhett Boone. James Braddock "Jamie" Grimsley, Jr. joined our staff in 2002 and is a licensed funeral director and embalmer, and a Cook County native. Dan Clements of Cook County joined our staff in early 2012, and Ricky Young joined our staff in 2026, both serving as Funeral Assistants. Being one of the oldest Funeral Homes in the State of Georgia, we have an excellent and very qualified staff. We currently have two Licensed Funeral Directors and Embalmers with over 70 years of combined experience on staff. We maintain all State and Federal Laws and Standards of licensure and continuing education.
